Painting Update

Well, it's been a while since my last post.  As I'm still painting away on the troops I need for our Historicon project I thought I'd share some photos of the recently completed units.  So, enough with words, on to the photos.  All flags are from GMB.  The Jager's and Line Infantry are from Front Rank.  The dismounted Dragoons are from Steve Barber Miniatures (more on Steve Barber figures in a future post).

First up is the 6th Jager Regiment.  For this Regiment I tried to go for more of a campaign look.  I'm not sure I really pulled it off, but I think over time I can get the figure selection right.  (sounds like an excuse to have to paint more figures).  Click on the figures to enlarge.

I seem to have over done the 'magic wash' on some of the pants.  My recipe for magic wash is Future floor wax, with a drop or two of light grey paint added.

I've posted these before but thought I'd post again now that they are based.  I ended up basing them on my 'standard' infantry bases

I still have a few more Napoleonic units I need to finish for Historicon which I hope to post soon, (whenever my next post may be).  Also, we seem to be in the midst of a Science Fiction pandemic here, so the next post may include some science fiction as well.

So much lead, so little time.

  1. Looking good, Barry!

I have the Provisional Croats, Neufchatel Bn, and Portuguese Legion (just started), a slew of Russian officers (half done), 2 Falcon Russian Jagers (to use for Gd Jagers, not essential if they aren't ready), and a bunch of Russian artillery to finish by Historicon - I expect to finish them all on time; 3.5 months and counting!

  2. I second on the troop work Barry! One battalion of line here, a few remounts to go. A little over a hundred days...ooops that's another campaign, eh?

  3. Gentlemen, thank you for the kind words. I just finished the last two Russian Grenadier Battalions I need for Historicon – photos to follow once I finish the bases.

  4. Great looking brush-work Barry. Those Russian jägers are always great looking units and yours are especially beaut. We are looking forward with great anticipation to the photos and reports of Historicon all these kilometres away in West Oz.
